NZFW best of the best

To be fair NZFW AW2011 left me swinging like a merry pendulum between love & loathe -  YES! & yawn.   What an interesting journey it proved to be, & while some of my top picks from yesteryear left me dangling like a broken key-chain,  some of the less likelies dialed up more than a smile.

In recent years streetwear has a been a strong categorical contender and rightly so.  NZ Fashion has always stood to gain from providing us with functional and directional clothing,  as we are a nation clearly founded on the notion.   Yet this year many collections seemed oddly repetitious, presenting some pretty dried up concepts and much of the same muchness.   Yes,  we may be a nation of farmers sons & daughters but the plaid-fad please....give it a rest already.

I wanted to share with you my top picks of from the NZFW AW2011 collections (& a few from years gone by).   These are the ensembles that really caught my eye.  Lavish,  directional, strong, intelligent design and lastly wearable.  These are more than a handful of looks I would rock come 2011 and a few key pieces I'd still be happily holding onto in years to come.
