Oh Lucy, what I wouldn't have done for that you-had-me-wishing wardrobe & those coats, well they weren't too bad either! Still, a boring remake of your favorite childhood book aka the Lion the witch & the Wardrobe (that stuff was freakin' religion for kids) is hardly anyway to meet someone. But, creepy fauns and talking lions aside, Tilda Swinton made an impressionable debut in my life as one wicked white witch.
Otherworldly, androgynous.... born of the Scottish highland & fiercely talented, no wonder Tilda Swinton is a hard woman to pin down. She dodges type casting with deft ease. Just as at home in a man-suit as she is an ethereal gown, Swinton has almost as many mainstream flicks to boast as she does art films. No wonder Derek Jarmen selected her for one of my favorite short films - ever! It has a pretty neat score too.
